Fry's Run Watershed Association June 7, 2011 Minutes Present: Matt Powers, Jeff McGuire, Bob Schmidt, Linda Heindel, Polly Clark. The FRWA hydrologic study has begun with Lehigh Univ. student, Tyler Tobin. Jim Wilson, Northampton Co. Soil Conservation District, will be meeting with him later in the week to go over the sampling sites with him and to continue reporting on their progress. John Buzzer, Pa Fish & Boat Commission, will be meeting with Matt Powers in about 2 weeks re: riparian buffer project at Fry's Run Park bridge area. They will be consulting with Gordon Heller, Northampton Co. Parks, re:his approval also. Jeff McGuire has not heard from Walt Russell yet re: any further parental interest in having another "critter capture" for their children at Fry's Run. Due to the current bridge construction on Rte. 611, it would be held further upstream so as to avoid that area. He'll check back with Walt again. FRWA will not hold another rain barrel workshop because the Wms.Twsp.Garden Club is doing one in August. Matt Powers will order additional minor water testing supplies needed for ongoing sampling of Fry's Run. Jeff McGuire mentioned that the Watershed Coalition of the Lehigh Valley is planning an Outreach Day later in the fall and wants each watershed association to schedule special activities for that day. We'll discuss possibilities at our next meeting. They meet bimonthly and serve as an umbrella organization for the various watersheds' activities and provide publicity for them. They trade ideas and support each other's projects. Erin Frederick and Rebecca Kennedy are involved in that. At the Plainfield Twsp. meeting last month re: the Bushkill Creek high "e coli" readings, they determined nothing could be done yet because the EPA has not yet set maximum allowable levels for that, so no action can be taken. Wms.Twsp. Supervisors have not taken any action on the Delaware Wild & Scenic Rivers project. Matt Powers will make another presentation and answer any questions at their next meeting on 06/08/11. Because Fry's Run enters the Delaware, we might be able to get some grants for other FRWA projects. Next FRWA meeting will be held July 5, 2011, at 7:00 pm. Submitted by, Polly Clark
